    By coincidence, I had been asking myself much the same question recently,
    and the conclusion I came to was that the latitude was irrelevant. If at the
    north or south pole the sun can be seen for six months of the year. From the
    equator, or any latitude, it can be seen for on average 12 hours a day..?
