I have two Astra IIIBs, one with a traditional split mirror, the other with a whole-horizon mirror.  When discussing the benefits of both types with students, it is nice to be able to compare apples to apples with two otherwise identical sextants.

BTW, the students and I like the Astra better than other sextants we use, which include Hezzaniths, Navy Mark 2s, Davis plastics, Husuns, Plaths.  I think it is primarily because the Astra has larger mirrors than the others, and a very nice scope.

    Stan

I tried out a recently purchased Astra IIIB yesterday. Suitably impressed.
Not new but never used by the look and feel of it.
