    Here is the formula:

    (Sn - d) * (tan(Lat) - tan(Dec)) * 48 / PI

    Sn: the North-South component of vessel movement (knots)
    Sn = speed * cos(course)

    d: the change in declination of the Sun per hour (arcminutes)
