    As you probably recall, I too champion the slope method. Due to family
    matters, I have had little lurk, let alone contribute to the list.  Spring
    boarding from the discussions regarding the shift of LAN time (slope?) from
    north/south vessel motion, I have been wondering (but have not have time to
    do even thought experiments) what effect north/south vessel motion might
    have on the idealized slope versus observed slope.  Any thoughts?
