Dear Ashley,
Apparently you are using the so-called "bar-notation" where all mantissas are positive values and the "bared" values denote negative characteristics.
Then you should add all the fractional parts (0.02528+0.91336+0.99483) which yields 1,93347; separately you should add all the characteristics ((-1) + (-1) + (-1)) which yields -3. Now you combine the two results: 1,93347 + (-3) = -2.93347, which is - that IS the gotcha - not a negative number but a "bar two .93347" to be looked-up in the log-table.
