    Gary, you wrote-

"But if you are working on a plotting sheet they aren't useful. Just use the longitude scale at the lower right hand side of the UPS to take out the longitude of your AP with your dividers and plot the AP. After you have plotted your fix then use your dividers again to measure the fix from the central meridian (pre-printed on the UPS) and carry it over to the longitude scale again to read out the longitude of the fix. It saves a lot of work doing it this way."

The reason I'm using and experimenting with my plotting board and overlay sheet is to avoid using dividers which wreck the UPS even if I'm careful and puts holes in everything...including me. I can plot and measure faster using my T-plotter. Plotting the AP using your method would require 2 steps- 1, subtract (or add) the AP from the central meridian. 2, mark the AP.

Because of habit and being on land my APs must be placed to the right of the central meridian. I'm rarely outside of N40 and W075 and I'm left handed so more space is needed on the right side of the UPS.

But....if I weren't stationary, then using dividers would be necessary.

    Sam L.
