Frank,
I get an Hs of 4° 00.5' using a 1947 Sun diameter of 31.6' as reference. The NG photo was blown up on my lap top then the midnight Sun's diameter was measured by caliper to be .675 inches with a corresponding lower limb 5.138 inches above the horizon. From this I get 240.5 minutes of arc or 4°00.5'. A Latitude of 78°31'N and Longitude 72°26'W was selected as a best fit on 11 August 1947 at UT 4:55:00.
