I know the feeling.

If you want to gain an understanding as to how it works, do the following:

-Find the last digit in Pi.

-Split the atom using only items you can find in your kitchen.

-Define the universe. Provide three examples.

-Invent cold fusion for use as an unlimited energy source

Once you have completed the above tasks, you still won't be able to understand the Byzantinian process that constitutes that most complete and multi-multi-staged sight reduction format on the planet.

In all seriousness, I spent an entire summer in a field camp (evenings) working problems using those tables. In the end, I gave up on them because there are too many steps and therefore too many possibilities for stupid mistakes.

If you want a compact set of table, HO 211, Ageton is the best.

And that is the word from the cheap seats.
