    Nautical Almanac App
    From: David C

Andres I hope you do not mind me didcissing this in an open forum but it is the easiest way to do it.........

First the backgroud. Frank stated that the 31st March would be a good day for a three body daylight fix with the sun, moon and venus. Although it is still overcast here the sun is making  a good effort to appaer. I am hopeful that by mid to afternoon, when the moon and venus should be visible, the sky will be clear. I decided to do dome planning.

I am using Andres Ruiz's Nautical Almanac app and I became confused setting the date. After some playing around with the app I have reluctantly  decided that ther may be a bug in it. Here is an example:

I have re-started the app. The default date is 31/03/2020   21:29:35.UT1. The time here is 31/03/20  10:29:35 NZDST.   NZDST is UT + 13 so  the time is 30/3/2020 21:29:35 UT.

I restarted the app and the time had changed to 21:26:23 UT which is correct but the day is still 31/3/2020. It seems that the time is being correctly updated but not the day.

If I go to the Sky screen the date is shown as 31/3/2020 21:36:23 UT1 which is (I think) incorrect.

Of course it is possible that I am doing something silly.........

By manually  setting date and time I have determined that mid afternoon the altitude of venus will be about 24° and the moon 16° so my chance of seeing either above the surrounding houses and hills is virtually zero. (even if there is a brilliant blue sky).
