    Lindsey,

My CelNav kit is the free download Air Almanac, a TI calculator and I use the sine-cosine formula for the reduction.  My non-electronic backup is a table of the Equation of Time for the year ( or two ) and Greg Rudzinski's log-sin-cos table ( only 9 pieces of paper ) and still the sin-cos formuls.  I use a plastic Davis sextant when I travel by car - camping or visiting friends but use an old aircraft bubble sextant when I fly.

My reasons are first - free, and second lightweight.  When I flew CRJs there was little room for the HO 249 but always had a calculator with me.  The paper backup is more for fun.

    John H.
