We already have a Facebook group... have for several years. It's a different medium, good for light, or in the case of FB "lite", discussions and also for sharing photos. It's simply not built in such a way that it could ever replace NavList. It tends to be more personal, and it's a great stepping off point to meet people you know from here more personally. Some people specifically prefer that type of interaction, and some specifically dislike NavList-style interaction. Something for everybody! Feel free to join us: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CelestialNavigation/. It has fits and starts of activity. Nothing much in the past couple of months, though someone today coincidentally posted a very basic video explaining that there's no perfect flat map for a round globe --which, I think, we here all know. I always recommend on FB that those interested in more serious, lengthier discussions should "visit NavList".
If that other Facebook group you follow has declined in quality, that's just bad management. An online community has to be managed for content, and it also has to be nurtured for activity. I regularly change the background banner on our FB celestial navigation group, and that frequently generates discussion.
