It was published in the QST magazine, and since I wrote about Winlink(I've used it at sea and ashore since 2002), they got the ARRL's permission to post it. I link it in this group because it talks about a life at sea on a merchant ship and how I communicated using various radio methods. Not exactly navigation, but still probably of interest to those on here.
I did do a day sail on the HMS BOUNTY in 1993. We went from Bourne, MA to Fall River. It was my first trip on an actual ship. I remember steering her by "spokes." We had to motor most of the way down Buzzard's Bay because the wind wasn't good. I read the reports about her foundering. Many lessons learned in that event that I took to heart. A few years ago, my wife bought a print of the ship and it's now on my wall in my house.
