A B-47 pilot frend of mine loaned me a book written by a B-47 navigator. It was a facinating book that discussed piloting, nuclear bomb delivery, accidents and, of course, navigation. He covered all forms of in-flight navigation, DR, pressure pattern, double drift, radar, and celestial. He was a navigator at SAC which had very high standards for navigation and they were tested constantly and, if they failed, the crew was broken up and removed from active status, a lot of pressure on performance by Curtis LeMay. I recommend the book for all of us and I just ordered a copy from Amazon.
I am attaching excerpts concerning celestial navigation to give you a taste of the book.
