I finally got around to getting a proper home for Ken's books. See picture, attached. With the books I already had, the shelves I bought were just big enough to fit everything that didn't already have a home (I think). Well ... with a few books, binders and notebooks set on top of the others. And, of course, a spot for some interesting items on top.

The globe in the top center is pretty neat. It's made by a company called MOVA (I can't recall them ever being mentioned here). They rotate whenever a bright enough light source shines on them. No batteries or cables - just solar power. The light does have to be fairly bright to get mine moving (hence the small desk lamp next to it). They have all sorts of globes: photorealistic, old maps, maps of other planets, the stars (see second picture, attached) and even famous works of art. They're not unlike a compass: one sphere suspended in some unknown liquid inside another sphere. So you can hold it in your hand in the sunlight and it will rotate freely. The effect is rather neat to see in person - even when it's just sitting on the stand.
