Forgive me if I don’t list your three posts. I think the author expecting us to work on much more Boy Scouts rule of thumb sort of chap lines than the method you suggest. All you need is 49, the time of local noon, and the age of the moon. Then, on average, in 24 hours the moon is 49 minutes behind the Sun, so from arc to time it’s travelled 360°- 49x15/60° = 348.75° in 24 hours, or 348.75/24 = 14.53°/hour
Therefore, the Moon will be bearing south at local noon + (age of Moon x 49 minutes). Call this Moon mer-pass time.
Bearing of the Moon at any instant = 180° + (time since Moon mer-pass x 14.53°/hr). DaveP
