An interesting exercise. As to the "inaccuracy" you mentioned,a calculated position 1.5 miles off GPS coordinates, you would be within visible distance, I expect. Good shooting.
I wonder as to how the shots would work with a marine sextant, as I'm unfamiliar with aircraft, (bubble) instruments.
