I like your solution Modris. It's more navigation and less lateral thinking than mine. However, I'm wodering if you need the year. Are there not four posible longitudes,or does that come out in the wash? My reasoning appart from Gary navigating by sextant is the problem was posted while I just happened to be reading Kate Kitagawa and Timothy Revell's 'The Secret Lives of Numbers, Chapter 14 Mapping the Stars' DaveP
