Greg The Burch method gives you a straight line using anything near the start or end points as input. Like an LOP, it is a small section non-linear curve. Therefore it can be treated as a straight line if the time span is short enough. Time of day, and declination and rate of change are factors. As a rule of thumb I would limit it to 5-6 minutes time. Hopefully you can take and record 5-6 observations in the time period, the more *good* observations the better. That's my 2 cents worth. Bill B
