    Guy,

I think there’s a mistake in the book:

at 0700 GMT GHA of Aries is 336 03.0.

Then you have to add the increment for 35 m (not for 14 m, GMT at middle twilight is 0735, i.e. 0414 + 3h 21 m for longitude difference W) which equals to 8 45.0.

GHA of Aries is thus 344 48.0

By subtracting DR longitude W (50 15) we obtain LHA 394 33.0 (in fact it would be 395 if rounded to the next degree).

    Bests,

    Federico

I purchased the book 100 problems in Celestial Navigation, 2nd edition. On Page 3 problem #1-. The problem is asking for the GHA of aries at 0414 LMT which is 0714 GMT. Date 5/13/93

On page 104 is the almanac for that day, at 0700 for May 13 the GHA of aries is 336 06.0. The increment for for 14 m is 3 30.6. Total rounded up is 340. Subtracting out the Long. 50 15 W The LHA of aries should be 289 or 290. The book say the LHA of aries is 294. Is there a mistake in the book or am I doing something wrong?

I know that Kenneth Gebhart contributes to this group. Maybe he can tell me who is correct.

    Thank you,

    Guy
