Hello to all,
... essentially an historical book with many highly interesting details about La Lande - definitely a GREAT MAN - not to mention a number of personal fights here and there especially during the XIX th Century with many of them triggered and fueled by Urbain Le Verrier (certainly a greatly talented and gifted but not such an "urban" Man nonetheless as the story seems to have it ...).
Definite thanks to you Robert for bringing it to our attention.
The few "number crunchers" among us here will not find many - if any - numerical examples : this was by no means the aim of M. Guy Boistel who is a quite comprehensive and remarkable Historical Writer. Very few things seem to escape his acute eyes and attention as I have been able to earlier check on his extremely onteresting PhD Study on the unfurling history of Lunar Distances.
I strongly doubt IMCCE would carry any [extra] funds for an English Version of this beautiful 600+ page historical Document.
