Antoine, you must have done something really bad in order to get assigned to the US Navy, and our food must have been inhumane punishment to you. Did your fellow American flyboys make you sing the theme song to "The Muppets" television show? Carry a little green frog in your flight case as a good-luck charm? Regarding storms at sea, I can't remember anything too bad in the Pacific. Was in or way too close to four hurricanes in the Atlantic: two in the Caribbean where there's never enough sea room, one south of Bermuda. The fourth we knew as the Halloween Nor'easter. The hurricane forecasters called it the No Name Hurricane (after the fact), and an author called it The Perfect Storm. We were south of the worst of it. Experienced two rouge waves, which were a bit more exhilarating than a storm. One in the Pacific and the other in the Atlantic, and both at night. In the Atlantic, we hung for a good three seconds before starting the backroll. This rolling after dropping into the hole at the wavefront. You do a lot of contemplating in three seconds (and no navigating) when you're laying on a bulkhead.
