From what I understand, the shrimp-like krill are usually found in large swarms and feed on algae (as on the boat bottom), so that although they are very small, thousands of them nibbling can make quite an odd noise when heard from inside the boat. I have only ever heard them in the warmer climes. Elizabeth ---------- Elizabeth Whelan www.howlingsurf.com Howlingsurf Studios 605 S. The first time around it puzzled and worried him. I don't remember exactly what he called them but I think it was some type of small "shrimp" or similar critter. He confirmed that it was marine life, not fiberglass toredos , and has since learned to ignore them.
