I have a 1994 edition. I use Norie's cosine-haversine tables for solving the spherical triangle. I have found the Norie's tables to be much easier to use than my copies of Bowditch.
It also contains ABC tables for azimuth which are a snap to use.
I also have found the ex-meridian tables to be easier to use and more robust than other options.
I would highly recommend the book and the information contained within for those who want to forgo the calculator and/or volumes of tables.
Cheers,
Doug
