There are three navigation stars visible in this photo. Can you determine the photographer's location astronomically? From the photo, what is your latitude? That's not too difficult. But can you determine a rough longitude, too? This probably requires knowing at least the date of the image, and I think that can be determined astronomically as well. My best estimate is 19 March 2012. How? There's a planet visible. Given the date, can we make any estimates of longitude? For the longitude, it's useful (important?) to know that this location is accessible by road.
With a little more sleuthing (and not merely asking the internet "who took this photo?"), it's possible to narrow things down to the nearest quarter mile or so based on the profile of the mountains on the left.
