I had the feeling that O'Brian was not a sailor (which he was not), and his descriptions of maneuvering an unpowered ship were na�ve. He describes one ship dead in the doldrums while another approaches it (how?). The two ships then move in tandem (with no wind!). No sailor would write like this. Steve T.
