Hi all,
I would have never thought to ask this here, but since there is such a broad general knowledge base among NavList readers I thought I'd take a stab in the dark. I'm interested in the relationship between two sailors, Sylvester Wyet and Rice Jones. A reference to the two can be found here:
http://www.biographi.ca/en/bio/wyet_sylvester_1E.html
My interest is genealogical in that one of my forebears, a John Wyatt, married the daughter of a Rice Jones, about 100 years after the sailing reference above:
http://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/1915003.pdf
My working assumption, having proved that our Wyatt line is not directly descended from Sir Francis Wyatt or his brother, is that we may be descended from Sylvester Wyet who sailed from Bristol with Captain Rice Jones in 1594.
Additionally, I'm almost 100% certain the Captain Rice Jones who sailed from Bristol is the same Rice Jones of Asthall Manor:

At any rate, I'm seeking information clarifying/proving/disproving my working assumptions regarding the identities of Sylvester Wyet and his captain, Rice Jones. I do have genetic test results available at Gedmatch in case you know people in either of these lines who have tested.
Best regards and apologies for disrupting normal business!
