I have met some of the hoi-polloi tribe. They can be very pleasant chaps in
social situations, yet ruthless on a hunt for the coin of the realm.
As to dress codes, the dark knit shirt goes well with my sharkskin shorts,
and doesn't draw undo attention to my Salvatore-Ferragamo-Studio black
wing-tip slip ons (with tassel).
When tennis whites allowed splashes of color to be introduced, then colored
garments, I was aghast. Then magenta and multicolored balls. The game has
been off limits me me since.
But that is off-topic. What's the deal with foul-weather gear? Instead of
traditional yellow we see red and dark blue. Does a brown-hair sailor in a
dark blue inflatable life vest and dark-blue jacket really believe someone
will see him or her in an MOB situation (especially night)? And what's up
with this robins-egg blue and white match-mate his-and-hers foul-weather
gear? You want to make a fashion statement, fly a chute.
