Ah, then too there's glare and glare flares caused by errors in the eye
especially as it ages. There's an interactive tool on www.lasikeyes.com which
let's you dial in different amounts of glare and distortion, intended so that
people who have these problems can "show" someone else what they are actually
seeing. You might find it interesting to see just how badly "normal" eye
problems can distort images including pinpoints of light. (And for anyone
contemplating LASIK surgery, take a good long look at what can go wrong and how
badly it often does.)
