In this very short YouTube video, you can see the effects of refraction!!
Look through the earth's atmosphere to see the star field. Now pick out a star and watch it "rise". Pay careful attention to its rate of motion. Now watch that star as it emerges from the effects of the atmosphere. There is a decided jump.
At first, I thought it just an artifact of the video, but after multiple viewings, I became convinced!
