I'll study your solution at length and see what I can figure out.
Frank, I have no idea what or how to do the following;
"Grab a star chart and you can make a good rough estimate of the latitude by drawing circles around those stars with radii equal to observed zenith distance."
Yes, I got Stellarium years ago and it's been very helpful in identifying stars based on an Ho.
