Upcoming is the occultation of Alderbaran on 4 March. Visible across much of the US, it gives an opportunity to take a precise lunar, without a sextant.
From NASA animations, it appears that Alderbaran will extinguish on the dark side. This will remove the glare of the moon from your observation. Simply (ha!! Is it ever?) time the event and use your favorite reduction tool with a distance of 0°.
