    hi Knut

this project looks like a tremendous and interesting job: the amount of work that goes into developing, building and testing it, the amount of data that will be put inside. It would be great to have a device like that.

However, I question the reasoning behind it. If all on-board electronics fails, or if you are out of power, e.g. after a lightning strike or water ingress, why would your device continue working? It would replace part of the calculations and plotting for celestial navigation, but it would not replace a paper almanac and practice with cel nav, because you would need that anyway if your device fails, or if it's batteries are empty. Imo it would be an add-on, for verifying navigation results, like several other applications.

I do not want to be negative, on the contrary, I am just looking at it from a practical point of view (as you asked for). And I would love to try it out once finished!

    Regards,

    Huub
