The copy of Dreisonstok that I purchased on Ebay arrived recently. I was impressed at how easy it is to reduce a sight by following the instructions. The method is easily remembered. This was in contrast to Ageton where it I found it nececarry to draw a flow chart with boxes and arrows and "+" signs and instructions to "Extract from table ...." Even with the flow chart I had difficulty following Ageton's method and decided it was probably no easier than log tables and the haversine method.
The above is a lead in to the point of this message. Dreisonstok, Nories A-K tables, Hughes, Weems and other tables are derived from Ogura. I have seen Ogura described as Engineer IJN.
IJN = Imperial Japanese Navy ???
Did Ogura publish any English language versions of his work? If so what are the names of the books so that I can search fo paper copies?
A short bio of Ogura would be appreciated (I know that googling Ogura will probably give me relevant information (-; ).
