    Yes Stan. When latitude and declination are contrary then there is no ambiguity. When latitude and declination are the same name then the correct quadrant is determined by comparing Hc or Ho to the prime vertical altitude (above or below).

    Isn't that formula for the altitude of a body on the prime vertical, and doesn't it only apply if latitude and declination have the same name and dec<lat?
