As a first introduction, I would probably demonstrate a noon shot. It’s easy to show how you get latitude, and then with a watch show how to do longitude without any complicated math. Once that has sunk in, you can then go from there to talk about LOPs. Above all, I would keep sight reductions very calculator-based.
