Thank you all, for your thoughts and expertize. I've been reading most of this thread, and will read it all, but I have some questions, going forward. Please note that we intend to keep the plugin alive, and Bob and Stelian have already made a number of improvements, and the work seems to be progressing nicely. Both Stelian and Bob have done a lot of work, and they may need a rest from this, so there may be a pause, and a release with testing to see where we are. To help us going forward:
What programming "modules" would you expect to see for celestial navigation?
For the parts that are working, could we keep the code?
Then substitute "modules" needed for the types of sights that need improvement?
Should we be considering making medium term fixes now so that the plugin is viable for the next 5-10 years, with a more long term rewrite into modules for later (with everybodies expert help in their areas of expertize)?
Are there any C++ programmers willing to contribute one of the needed modules?
Thank you, Rick Gleason (opencpn team)
