Some years ago (maybe ten?) I encountered the expression "Lahaina Noon". Lahaina is a town on the island of Maui in Hawaii. The expression Lahaina Noon was coined by "someone" to refer to a local noon where the Sun passes almost exactly through the zenith with a corrected altitude or Ho/Hc of exactly 90°. At least that's how it's been described to me. Lahaina Noon is apparently a pun from "high noon" (the second syllable of Lahaina is pronounced like "high"). There's nothing special about Lahaina relevant to local noon. It is no more than a popular destination (less so since the tragic fires two years ago) with a tropical latitude.
So where and when did the expression originate? Maybe a navigation book (or blog or youtube video)?
