The Otis King slide rule has been promoted to my sextant box kit as an excellent non electronic sight reduction tool when used in conjuction with natural sin /cos tables. I was able to perform mistake free sight reduction from the get go to a respectable precision between 1' and 2' . The K model can be had for about $40 on ebay.
