I've been a big fan of salvaging magnets out of old PC hard drives. They make a wonderful tool holders when you mount them on the wall, and have them snag wrenches, screwdrivers, and whatevers.
But .... each hard drive also provides several shiny platters that seem to beg for a re-use function: telescope mirror, signal mirror, and how about a AH mirror? I know they have to be super flat to store and retrieve all those computer bits as they spin super fast.
Anywho, I'm not skilled enough in CN to assess if they are a viable AH mirror. So, I ask anyone who has already tired this idea to share their observations.
In the mean time, I'll do my best. Here's my set up: 1/2-inch Al plate (Ebay) with three machine threads, a military surplus bubble that I picked up somewhere, and whatever lies flat on the plate.
