    Frank Reed,

    (Date: 2026 Aug 16, 17:51 -0700)  What is the -0700 ?

''It's a "dead" app that is "archived" there.''

I would compare this with 2 people that have different ideas about cars. One likes the engine:  how many cylinders ?, horsepower ?, compression ratio? cubic inches?. He doesn't care much about the fact that there are mo more parts for this old engine. He just likes the engine, nevermind the body. That's me. The other one likes cars, reliables, parts easily available. Good looking .Different interests with something in common.
If someone talks bad about my old engine, I go nuts.😎

''I communicated with James Morrison back around 1995''

I did too but not in the same way. For $10, he would make a plastic astrolabe for your latitude. I still have mine. The first one he made for me had the wrong latitude. He made me a new one, no charge, saying how sorry he was  about his mistake. I alse read something about him not too long ago ; they were saying that he spent 20 years of his life for the astrolabe. What you write about the guy confirms my thoughts : he went banana about it (this is English, isn't it ? ). He wrote a whole book about the subject. Still on sale on Amazon for $475. a relic for ''connaisseurs''. Dieu ait son âme.

''The problem here is that you haven't helped us (or at least me! maybe I'm being slow...) understand what it is that makes your app unique.''

This is true, partly because I didn't want to monopolize Navlist.net for something that could interest  x% of the members.

''Please feel free to describe how your app works visually... what features it has... and what benefits it might have for a celestial navigation enthusiast. The floor is yours. :) ''

    Thank you.

I learned with Excel files, with John Meeus book, the fat one, and with ''Practical astronomy with your calculator'' (P. Duffet-Smith)
I am saying this because, in the background, my PCastrolabe has the same accuracy as a sextant (1/10 of a minute of arc).
What I need to to is, either a YouTube thing, or a video with voice to explain the beast...
This will be my learning curve : how to make a decent YouTube video, with good visual, good sound. I know what to say and do, Got to master the tools...

''https://ofrohn.github.io/celestial-demo/location.htmlAnd this is just some coder's pet project''

I looked at it, very nice indeed. The author is no amateur. He's a PRO
I have Stellarium, Heavens Above, Sky this, Star that.
I have zero marketing or selling aspiration. I just do it because I like it. For me, it was, and it still is a challenge to use the few knowledge that I have in astronomy and in programming in ''
VB6, a relic, a coding tool which was released in 1998''.

And thank you for your advices Fred. Greatly appreciated.

(In a future  video, I will use a random position, for the PCastrolabe, like 41.48461N, 071.3749W, if it's ok with you ? )😎
