Greg;
With regards to the
MAC sextant,I have one I purchased on E-Bay from a fellow in Montreal.It is in
as new condition.The interesting thing is that it is identical to a Tamaya
sextant I also have.All parts including the scopes,mirrors,etc. are
interchangable.Both sextants are of mid 1970's vintage and come with the
certificates.Also of interest,but not confirmed by actual comparison,is the fact
that the Tamaya appears to match instruments marketed by Simex and Nautec(?) of
the same vintage.I believe all these brands were manufactured by or under
license from Tamaya as "house brands" for mid level consumer
use.
Hope this is of some
help.Although the MAC does not match the quality of the high end units I believe
it would make an accurate user.I'm sure there are more knowledgable folks here
who may be able to offer some insight.
Earl
