I had occasion to be browsing old British Nautical Almanacs online recently and noted that tables of lunar distances appeared until as late as1906. The almanac of 1907 https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=njp.32101050586856;view=1up;seq=606;size=125 in the Explanation section contains the sombre message "It having been decided that Lunar Distances which have heretofore been given in the Nautical Almanac are no longer of sufficient use to justify their retention, they will in future be ommitted." It goes on "Examples however, are inserted below, showing how Lunar Distances may be calculated." The examples continue at least until 1916 which is a far forward as I have looked,
