Thanks to all who are providing their time, effort and web space for
posting various papers. In case of the philosophical transactions this
may be a redundant effort. They are readily available on the gallica web
site. Go to

http://gallica.bnf.fr/

then click on "recherche", enter "philosophical transactions" in the
first line (mots du titre), and click the button "rechercher". On the
next page you will see 4 items, among which you find:

    2.  Philosophical transactions of the Royal society of London :
giving some accompt of the present  undertakings, studies, and labours
of the ingenious in many considerable parts of the world

which contains volumes 1 to 177 for the years 1665 - 1886, and

    3.  Philosophical transactions of the Royal society of London.
Mathematical and physical sciences

which contains volumes 178 - 231 for the years (1887 - 1933).


All these papers can be highly entertaining. I read at least one a week
for my bed time story. Yesterday, when checking whether the Halley paper
was there (of course, it is) I hit on "A Letter from T. Malden, M.D."
concerning the danger of laurel water mixed with brandy. Apparently two
ladies dropped dead after having three spoonfuls. It's in Vol 37, p.84 -
163.
