The one with nonius is supposed to give more accurate reading (to 0'2), however my experience shows that interpolating by eye gives the same (or better) result. I easily read the scale to 0'1 on my SNO-T which has an arrangement similar to the right picture. And has an additional advantage of much quicker reading. I suppose that both sextants have illumination devices which are indispensable for star sights, but not shown in the pictures.
