Kermit is correct. The paper appeared in preprint form attached here. The only difference between that and the final version is in some of the introductory historical background but that doesn't affect the meat of the paper. Cambridge University Press allows me to make a link available to up to 10 colleagues who don't have Journal of Navigation subscriptions to download a copy of the published version. I have 9 left and I have sent one to the email address on your website. Additional discussion, again relating to the historical background, appeared here,
