Yes multiple plots will do just fine. To further clear the track of clutter other parts of a plotting sheet can be used for a round of stars. Just transfer the position of the star fix back over to the main plot. Graph paper is not commonly used aboard ship probably because it is too busy with lines but I find it very useful on small chart tables and in the cockpit. As a matter of fact last year I was able to successfully plot LOPs aboard a commercial jet using graph paper on the fold down tray table.
