I've been tinkering with The Cap'n and found it has a curious quirk on updating a track from a DR postion to a fix. If, for example, I log positions from DR and then come up with a celestial fix, The Cap'n logs the distance from the last DR to the fix as distance covered. On my plotting sheets, I simply do a "Scotty, beam me up" and restart the track from the fix without drawing the "DR to fix" leg. Of course the distance and heading of the "leg" is useful for determining (asessing blame on the) current set and drift but my point is this leg is not distance covered. Am I missing something?
