    The Pocket Sliderule
    From: Greg Rudzinski

After many years working with 10" sliderules (My favorite K&E 4080-3) I have finally procured my first 6" pocket sliderule (K&E 9068 Doric). Precision was tested with the 6" to better than good for several navigational applications. Time, speed, distance, eta, prime vertical, azimuth, and the circle of position radius for a horizontal sextant angle. The beauty of the Doric pocket sliderule is that it does actually fit into the shirt pocket as well as every sextant box out there. Being made of plastic makes it sailor proof and waterproof. The draw backs are smaller hard to read scales and having to use the complement of the cosine on the sine scale to get the cosine of an angle.
