I'm gonna say you are south of Crete in the Mediterranean and you're about to make land in what is today Darnah, Libya, just in time to join the Battle of Derna, which began on April 27, 1805, during the first Barbary War. It's that battle that is commemorated as "the shores of Tripoli" in the Marines' Hymn.
