1-2mm seems rather thick compared to the originals.  My actual Polhemus Plotting Template discs are 0.87mm thick.  How about printing the pdfs onto good quality transparencies (the kind that don’t come to a gooey mess on the drum of your printer or photocopier), and then laminating them using good quality laminating foils, the thickest you can buy.  They would end up about 0.2mm thick but would be fairly durable.  You’d need to cut the discs slightly undersize before laminating.  If you cut them afterwards, they’d just come apart.  If you couldn’t get a matt finish on the discs to take pencil, you could use a fine-pointed spirit based pen and clean it off afterwards with cigarette ash or aftershave.  If you needed a new Plotter Base Plate you'd need something a bit more substantial.  You could always paste on a paper version and cover that with sticky-backed plastic.  One of these days when I’ve finally got nothing to do, I really am going to sit down and teach myself how to use my Polhemus.  DaveP
